Nikol Pashinyan decided to talk to the Russian president before the meeting of the Security Council of Armenia.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday night, September 13, to inform him that Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired artillery and large-caliber weapons and called such actions unacceptable.

Armenpress news agency reported it.

The Armenian leader called the actions of the Azerbaijani army provocative and aggressive in the direction of the sovereign territory of Armenia.

He also stressed the significance of an adequate reaction from the international community. The sides agreed to be in touch.

Armenia is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. It means an attack on this country implies a reaction from other CSTO countries - Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The Azerbaijani defence ministry called the information about the invasion of Azerbaijani troops on the territory of Armenia absurd.

"The information spread in Armenian media and on social networks regarding the invasion of Azerbaijani troops into the territory of Armenia does not correspond to reality," the ministry noted.

According to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, the Azerbaijani army uses local countermeasures to neutralize firing points.

Azerbaijani Telegram channels publish videos of fires at Armenian Armed Forces' ammunition depots after artillery strikes.

After midnight on Tuesday, September 13, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started intensive shelling of Armenian positions with artillery and heavy guns. Armenia accused Azerbaijan of an all-out assault; the Azerbaijani side called it a response to the subversive actions.
