AFU Commander: Ukrainian Troops Actually Took Kleshchiivka South Of Bakhmut

“Violent fighting is still going on in the south of Bakhmut. But the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actually taking control of Kleshchiivka - this is a strategic point to conduct offensive operations to the south of Bakhmut. The 57th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also successful in the north of Bakhmut. Today, we can say that the enemy is retreating from the northern districts of Bakhmut, in particular, on the Soldiers Internationalists soldiers, the enemy was completely knocked out of there, ”said Denis Yaroslavsky, commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of Radio Liberty.

At the same time, he pointed out that artillery and mortar systems were working very closely to knock out the enemy.

“We are controlling everything that happens in Bakhmut from the air. Kleshchiivka is a strategic height from where you can inflict defeat, everything is clearly visible from there, as well as from Berkhovka in the north. There is heavy fighting. If we take control over Kleshchiivka and Berkhivka, then Bakhmut can be taken into the operational encirclement,” summed up the military.

Charter97.org reported earlier, Andriy Kovalyov, Speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the Defence Forces recaptured the strategic initiative in the Bakhmut direction and are conducting broad-front offensive operations.
