Trukhanov served in the Russian army and obtained Russian citizenship.

The mayor of Ukrainian Odessa Gennady Trukhanov had at least three internal Russian passports. This is evidenced by copies of the documents, sources told New Voice in law enforcement agencies on Wednesday, October 15.

According to media sources, the new documents additionally confirm that Trukhanov received Russian citizenship. Among them are extracts from official registers of the Russian Federation, as well as responses from federal agencies to official requests.

According to lawyer and serviceman Vadim Oksyuta, Trukhanov repeatedly changed Russian passports.

"He had three internal Russian passports and one Soviet passport. In 1992, after the collapse of the USSR, he served in the Russian army and received Russian citizenship. This is clearly established by the court," - said Oksyuta.

In his words, in December 2017, the appeal court of the Moscow region overturned the decision to invalidate Trukhanov's Russian passport. Thus, the mayor of Odessa officially remains a citizen of the Russian Federation.

"The only body that can revoke Russian citizenship is the president or consular offices outside Russia. We claim that Trukhanov has Russian citizenship," Oksyuta emphasized.
