For the first time since Fitzo came to power.
Slovakia will provide Ukraine with the first military aid package after Robert Fitzo returns to the post of the country's prime minister in 2023. This was reported in Telegram by Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal. According to him, Kiev will receive various "non-lethal" vehicles and equipment free of charge from Bratislava as part of the agreement signed with the deputy prime minister and head of the Slovak Defense Ministry Robert Kaliniak.
In particular, the AFU will receive five Bozena mine clearance vehicles, engineering and construction equipment, as well as medical evacuation equipment.
Smygal noted that Slovakia has already started work on a new, fifteenth aid package for Ukraine. The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation between Ukrainian and Slovak companies. Kaliniak, for his part, said that he planned to discuss with Shmygal the expansion of "our already quite voluminous defense cooperation." Slovakia has provided 13 military aid packages worth 671 million euros to Kiev since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army on February 24, 2022, until Fitzo's return to the post of prime minister in October 2023.
