Latvia Stopped Allowing Trucks To Pass Through The Border With Belarus

What's wrong?
State Border Committee of Belarus reported that since the evening of Thursday, June 26, Latvia stopped accepting heavy trucks at the checkpoint Paternieki (neighboring Belarusian - Grigorovshchina). According to the Belarusian border guards, this is due to "failure of customs systems" on the neighboring side. The situation was also confirmed by the State Revenue Service (VID) of Latvia, admitting the presence of technical problems, writes "Telegraf".
As stated in Latvia, the failure in the Latvian Electronic Customs Data Processing System (EMDAS) began in the afternoon on June 26, causing "slowdowns" and affecting the processing of customs declarations. On the morning of June 27, VID reported that "EMDAS malfunctions continue" and are "significantly affecting" customs clearance of cargo at the country's external borders.
"Intensive work is currently underway to ensure full restoration of the system as soon as possible. According to forecasts, the restoration work may take another 12 hours," said the Latvian service.
In other directions - queues
Meanwhile, as stated in the State Border Committee, before the weekend, queues to exit from Belarus to the European Union "are fixed in all directions."
On the border with Poland, at the checkpoint "Brest" (neighboring - "Terespol"), according to the latest data, a queue of 2,360 cars and 40 buses has accumulated.
The border with Lithuania also has queues. About 260 cars (120 and 140 respectively) are queuing in front of the crossings "Miadininkai" ("Kamenny Log") and "Šalčininkai" ("Beniakoni").
The situation with trucks is even more tense: 540 trucks in "Kamenny Log" and 460 - in "Beniakoni". At the same time, the CPC accused the Lithuanian services in "Miadininkai" that since the beginning of the week they have been processing two cars per hour, which is, according to the calculations of the Belarusians, 14% of a certain norm.
By this background, the zero queue of trucks in front of the crossing "Kozlovichi" (Poland) looks more like an exception to the general rule.
In the meantime, according to the latest data, a queue of 565 trucks has accumulated at the checkpoint "Grigorovshchina" on the border with Latvia, where problems with the passage have arisen since yesterday evening.
