The former foreign minister - on the change of Trump's policy on Ukraine.

Despite the recent change in the White House's rhetoric towards Ukraine, it is unlikely to expect that from now on the USA will take a pro-Ukrainian stance. This was stated by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ohryzko on Radio NV.

"This may be a certain good signal, but I don't think we should uncork the champagne and drink it everywhere and every day. Tomorrow Trump is expected to announce something, we expect. In my opinion, he's just going to demonstrate that he's going to want to shore up support somewhat, say I'm going to help Ukraine, repel Russian attacks. Probably find some couple or three billions that are still left over from the Biden administration that he can use without the consent of Congress and so forth. And he will say that if Ukraine needs weapons so much, I am ready to sell them not to Ukraine, but to the Europeans, and let the Europeans do whatever they want with them," he explained.

But in Ogryzko's opinion, it is unlikely that this will mean the beginning of radical changes with regard to Ukraine.

"Trump has invested too much in making friends with Russia. It seems to me that this will be more like a tactical game, a demonstration that I can do bad things to Putin, I can hurt him," he said." he said.

At the same time, Ogryzko noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had passed a proposal to Trump from Putin through U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which suggests that the Russian dictator is willing to cede Iran, but in turn demands that America cede Ukraine.

"A kind of, you know, exchange and barter. What will come out of it, we don't know. But I think we will wait until tomorrow to find out what Trump wants to do and how serious these steps against Russia will be," the expert added.
