Italy's prime minister welcomed Trump's change in stance on Putin.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's change in stance on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Meloni emphasized that Russia does not want peace despite the U.S. willingness to engage in dialogue.

"We continue to see no progress on the Russian side. Russia continues to carry out increasingly brutal attacks on civilians, demonstrating how little Moscow is committed to building the peace we all want, despite the Trump administration's willingness to engage in a dialogue that Putin has decided not to support," the prime minister said.

She added that Italy welcomes the change in the US position.

"We see the change in the position of the United States and we welcome it," Meloni emphasized.
