The WSU officer cited two factors.

Major Oleh Shiryaev, commander of the 225th separate assault battalion of the AFU, said that supplies of air defense systems and permission to strike deep targets in Russia will give Ukraine a chance to win.

The decisive role may be played by the support of Western allies - both in the form of supplies of Patriot SAMs and political will to use long-range weapons. A Ukrainian officer told this in an interview with journalists at Defense Breaking.

"We have a chance [to win], and this chance is quite big. Now, if we get the means of air defense, as well as the means to strike at long distances, then the issue of victory of the civilized world, the civilized West in this war will come on the agenda, not the issue of a ceasefire, but the issue of victory of the civilized world, the civilized West in this war," Shiryaev stressed.

The military serviceman also added that strikes on drone production facilities in Russia could reduce the intensity of attacks, but for that Kiev needs long-range missiles and a political decision to use them.

Ukraine now has at least six Patriot batteries, but according to Shiryaev, this is not enough. Russian missile strikes and daily bombardments continue, especially near the front line.

The statement comes amid reports of possible deliveries of up to 10 Patriot batteries to Ukraine. In addition, according to the Financial Times, former US President Donald Trump discussed with Vladimir Zelensky the idea of striking Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Although the White House chief later denied the information and said he was not on anyone's side in the war and wanted to stop the bloodshed.

"I'm not on anyone's side. I just want to stop the killings. Zelensky should not be targeting Moscow," Trump said.
