Verkhovna Rada Appoints Sviridenko As Ukraine's Prime Minister

The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Yulia Sviridenko as Prime Minister of Ukraine. The corresponding decision was supported by 262 people's deputies, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Sviridenko has thus become the second woman in the history of independent Ukraine to head the Cabinet of Ministers, and the first in the last 15 years.
Who is Yulia Sviridenko
The 39-year-old new prime minister hails from Chernihiv. She was born into a family of civil servants. She graduated with honors from KNTEU and studied for a postgraduate degree. She took management courses in Germany and Sweden. She is fluent in English and Chinese.
Started her career in the private sector, later managed investment projects in Chernihiv region, worked in Chernihiv Regional State Administration, where she reached the position of Acting Chairman.
She was Deputy Minister of Economy, and since 2020 - Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Economy. In the Cabinet of Ministers she was responsible for important projects: "eRobota, sanctions policy, business relocation, recovery fund, negotiations with the IMF and the EU.
She is a signatory from the Ukrainian side of the notorious subsoil agreement with the United States.
She was among the participants of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement in eastern Ukraine as a representative in the working subgroup on socio-economic issues.
While working in the OP, she also headed the Business Assistance Council. She was a member of the commission for the selection of the head of the Economic Security Bureau (EBS), a member of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Board of the Fund of obligatory state social insurance in case of unemployment.
On November 4, 2021, Sviridenko was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy. A year later in August, she headed the Interdepartmental Working Group on the implementation of the state sanctions policy.
In 2023, she was included in the rating of 100 new leaders of the world according to TIME magazine.
