And it's not the United States.

Australia has transferred M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, as previously promised. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from the country's government.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said Kiev has already received most of the 49 promised tanks, with the remainder to be delivered in the coming months.

The total value of this aid package is 245 million Australian dollars (about $160 million).

"The M1A1 Abrams tanks will make a significant contribution to Ukraine's ongoing fight against Russia's illegal and immoral invasion," the minister emphasized, adding that Australia will continue to provide Kiev with full support.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Australia has established itself as one of Ukraine's biggest partners outside NATO. Canberra has already provided assistance totaling about $980 million.

This includes not only tanks, but also a wide range of ammunition, equipment and defenses needed by the Ukrainian army on the frontline. In addition, Australia is involved in anti-Russian sanctions projects, particularly with regard to the so-called "shadow fleet" of the Russian Federation.

The country also provides Ukraine with full support in the political and information space.
