Economic crime officers of Vitsebsk voblast with the force support of riot police detained two local residents in Orsha on suspicion of bribery. According to the Interior Ministry, a corruption scheme in the agro-industrial complex was stopped, writes Telegraf.news.

According to the agency, the 37-year-old detainee, being "an official in a responsible position," together with the 32-year-old head of an agricultural enterprise, ensured the victory of a commercial firm in the procurement of services for the repair of agricultural machinery. This equipment, as the Interior Ministry said, belonged to various farms in Orsha district.

For this, according to the police, the defendants received 20 thousand rubles as a bribe from the director of the commercial organization and his representative.

"Officials face up to 15 years of imprisonment for taking a bribe, while giving a bribe is punishable by up to 7 years of imprisonment," said the head of the DBEP of Vitebshchyna Department of Internal Affairs Alexander Makaryuk.

Investigative authorities have opened criminal cases for taking and giving a bribe. In addition, the police are now establishing other possible episodes of illegal activity of the detainees.
