Fighting has erupted again on the border between Thailand and Cambodia - the military opened fire on each other. There are dead among civilians, both sides accuse each other of provocation.

In the morning of July 24, there was an exchange of fire between soldiers of Thailand and Cambodia - the military opened fire on each other. Both sides accuse each other of starting the fire.

The Thai military said that the Cambodians were the first to fire. Cambodia, however, insists that it was Thai soldiers who opened fire first, so they responded in self-defense.

The clash took place near ancient temples in the border zone, where disputes have been ongoing for years. And this time it was not just a firefight: Thai officials said grenades fired from the Cambodian side killed at least two civilians and wounded two others. Two Thai military officers were also injured.

It should be noted that the conflict on this border has lasted for decades, but in recent weeks it has moved into a phase of new aggravation.

The day before, on July 23, Thailand recalled its ambassador from Cambodia and expelled Cambodian diplomats. The reason is a recent incident in which a Thai soldier lost limbs due to a mine explosion.

Thailand accuses Cambodia of having allegedly recently mined the border area. The Cambodian side denies this and reminds everyone that millions of mines still remain on their territory since the long civil wars.
