Kim Jong-un Plans New Intervention In Russian Federation's War On Ukraine

Reuters revealed the details.

Pyongyang may send additional troops to Russia as early as August 2025. Thus, for strengthening the Russian army, North Korea receives from Moscow technologies for launching satellites and guiding missiles.

This is reported by Reuters with reference to statements of South Korean parliamentarians, as well as intelligence.

North Korea may send additional troops to Russia as early as August this year to participate in the war against Ukraine.

"The time for additional troop deployment is presumably August," MP Lee Seong-kweun said after a closed-door meeting with the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

Moscow is preparing for a major offensive

South Korean intelligence believes Russia is planning a major offensive operation against Ukraine in August, and the possible involvement of North Korean units is linked to those plans.

Thus, Pyongyang has already started a new mobilization of military personnel to be sent to Russia.

In addition, a key representative of the Russian Security Council visited North Korea in May, which was probably part of the coordination.

Weapons in exchange for military technology

North Korea is also reported to be supplying Russia with artillery shells and missiles, and in exchange receiving technical assistance, particularly in satellite launches and missile guidance systems.

These arrangements were made possible under a mutual defense pact that North Korean leaders Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed in June 2024 during a summit at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The rapprochement between Pyongyang and Moscow has raised concerns in the region. Senior South Korean and US officials have already condemned any DPRK involvement in the war in Ukraine, saying it only intensifies the conflict and isolates the DPRK on the world stage.
