A Ukrainian general recalled an episode of a GUR operation.

During one of the combat episodes, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov was wounded and asked his fellow soldiers to leave him on the battlefield, but they did not leave their commander. Major General Ilya Pavlenko, former deputy chief of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR, told about this case in the program "Tuzov's Move" on the Apostrof channel.

Pavlenko said that it was a period of active participation of the GUR in combat operations in the ATO zone. Budanov, like other officers, performed tasks directly on the front line. During one of the outings he was wounded. "Budanov was wounded, and he asked the guys to leave him behind," Pavlenko said.

But the fighters of the special unit of the GUR could not leave their wounded colleague. "GUR special forces will not allow themselves such a thing. And the guys really saved him," the general said.

Budanov underwent rehabilitation and did not remember his injury until journalists noticed a scar on his arm. - Pavlenko also added that participation in special operations is always a conscious risk that requires professionalism and responsibility.

"You realize you are taking a risk. But you don't go to die. You go with the realization that you have to risk your health and your life, but you have to reduce that risk. Why? Because you have to become a professional. And you must not even allow yourself to be wounded, otherwise you may become a burden to your fellow soldiers," stated Budanov's ex-deputy.
