"Ukrainian Brigades Could Be In The Baltic States Instead Of American Brigades"

Ukrainian diplomacy is fighting for the country's NATO membership.
The discussion of Ukraine's accession to NATO with the participants of the defense bloc is going in circles. This is what the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Georgiy Tykhiy said in a interview with journalist Alexander Notevsky published on July 4.
"This is the problem with the discussion on Ukraine's NATO membership, it has become, to put it simply, very toxic. All the arguments have been given, all the counterarguments have been given, and every new round of conversation, I've seen it myself more than once.... goes down the same path. We say, "Take us, NATO, because a, b, c." They say to us, 'Yes, we'll take you, but there sometime later,'" the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
According to him, Ukrainian diplomacy is trying to take the discussion out of the impasse by creating consensus and turning a "no" into a "yes".
"We are trying to take it out of the conversation into a broader direction, out of Ukraine. [Asking NATO members]: "How are you going to guarantee the security of Europe? Of your own people, of your own families? Let's look at a map of Europe and count where there are warehouses with what kind of ammunition, where there are defense production facilities, how many combat-ready brigades with combat experience there are, count the defense capability. And if we put the question in this way, it becomes absolutely clear that without Ukraine it is impossible, because there are 110 brigades with combat experience, a huge defense industrial complex, the ability and readiness to fight.... If we were now a member of NATO, then, conditionally speaking.... Ukrainian brigades could be in the Baltic States instead of American brigades," Tykhiy said.
