New information has come to light.
The body of former Russian Transport Minister and ex-governor of Kursk Region Roman Starovoit was found on Saturday, July 5, a source in the law enforcement agencies told the RBC newspaper. Earlier it was reported that the official shot himself after his resignation was announced on July 7.
According to this source, expert examinations - ballistic and medical - will be appointed in the case of Starovoit's death, which will help clarify the cause of death. One of the main versions of what happened is suicide.
"Traces that may be important in the case were confiscated at the scene of the incident," the interlocutor noted.
The Forbes edition also reports that Roman Starovoit died on the night from Saturday to Sunday. If this publication's information is accurate, the official was already dead when the Ministry of Transport reported on Sunday afternoon that Starovoit had allegedly held an operational meeting in connection with the ammonia leak on the Eco Wizard tanker in the port of Ust-Luga.
