Axios: Israel Prepares To Resume War With Iran

Trump may give the "green" light on that.

Israel is preparing for a new military campaign against Iran if it tries to restore its nuclear program. U.S. President Donald Trump may approve such action, Axios reported, citing its sources.

According to the interlocutors, the main topic of discussion between Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at a White House dinner on July 7 was the Iranian nuclear threat. Israeli officials expect to agree with Trump on a future strategy in case Iran reactivates uranium enrichment.

As Netanyahu adviser Ron Dermer said in private briefings, the Trump administration appears willing to support new strikes against Iran - under certain conditions. Among those conditions are Iran's attempts to remove highly enriched uranium from damaged facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan or to rebuild uranium enrichment infrastructure.

Dermer held meetings last week with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House Middle East Representative Steve Whitkoff. He did not disclose details.

Trump himself has said twice since the end of the 12-day war between Israel and Iran that the US could strike again if Tehran returns to uranium enrichment. At the same time, he does not rule out the possibility of a diplomatic settlement and hopes to avoid a new phase of the conflict.

Now, according to US and Israeli estimates, about 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% - this is almost weapons-grade (to reach 90%) - remain on the territory of Iran's three nuclear facilities. The sites themselves are badly damaged but not completely destroyed, and access to them is difficult.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed in an interview with Tucker Carlson that the damage is extensive, but Tehran cannot yet objectively assess the condition of the sites.

At the same time, U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies continue to closely monitor Iran's actions to detect in time the possible evacuation of materials or the start of reconstruction work.

White House special envoy Steve Whitkoff is expected to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Oslo in the coming days to try to restart uranium talks. Iran has confirmed preparations for such a meeting, but there is no exact date yet.

Dermer said the U.S. still maintains a tough stance: no uranium enrichment on Iranian soil.
