GUR Named One Of Those Responsible For Preparing A Strike On The Children's Hospital "Okhmatdet"

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, July 8, the anniversary of the Russian strike on the Okhmatdet National Children's Specialized Hospital in Kiev, released the details of one of those responsible for preparing the attack.
Ukrainian intelligence wrote in Telegram that he turned out to be Major of the Russian Armed Forces Sheynov Denis Alekseevich - head of the special engineering service of the 121st Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division.
It is noted that it was this unit that was directly involved in the attack on the medical facility, which was treating 627 children at the time of the strike.
According to the GUR, Major Sheynov, according to his functional duties as head of the special engineering service, was responsible for organizing the technical preparation of the Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles for use by strategic aviation aircraft.
He was born on January 30, 1978 in Saratov, Russia, where he graduated from the Higher Military Engineering Command School of Rocket Troops.
In addition, in 2018, the occupant was in Syria, where he performed so-called special tasks.
It is noted that he was awarded medals for military valor II st. (2000), for distinction in military service I st. (2015), Participant of the military operation in Syria (2019).
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Sheynov is married to Shabalova Elena Mikhailovna, has a son and a daughter.

On July 8, 2024, Russian forces struck the Okhmatdet children's hospital during a massive shelling attack on Kiev. Two adults were killed, one of them a young doctor from Lviv. Twenty-four wards were damaged. About 100 young patients of the hospital were evacuated to other institutions in Kiev and the region.
The SBU claimed that the Russian Federation targeted Okhmatdet with a Kh-101 missile. This was evidenced by debris found at the site of the strike.
