Video Fact.
Ukrainian soldiers have destroyed another Russian Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile system. The cost of this air defense system is estimated at about 10 million dollars.
The Ukrainian Ground Forces report this.
The successful operation was carried out by fighters of the Black Forest brigade together with soldiers of the 413th separate battalion of unmanned systems "Reid". The video of the destruction of the SAM was also published on the official pages of the units.
Thanks to the accurate work of reconnaissance, correction from drones and effective fire defeat it was possible to destroy the enemy complex, which was covering the Russian positions. This is another blow to the enemy's air defense system, which demonstrates the vulnerability of even expensive Russian equipment to Ukrainian drones and artillery.
What is known about the Buk-M1
The Buk-M1 is a medium-range surface-to-air missile system developed in the Soviet Union to engage airborne targets such as airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles and drones. It entered service in 1983 as a modernized version of the previous Buk complex.
The system is capable of simultaneously engaging multiple targets at altitudes from 15 meters to 22 kilometers, at a range of up to 35 kilometers. Thanks to its tracked platform, the Buk-M1 is highly mobile and can quickly change position to avoid retaliatory strikes.
In the course of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Russian army has been actively using these systems to cover its positions from air attacks - both from combat aircraft and attack drones of the AFU.
