"You Are Not Our Brothers": Belarusians Pointed Russians At The Door

The TikTok video sparked a wave of discussion.

The blogger in TikTok raised the topic of boorish behavior of Russians who come to our country. He also noted that Belarus was connected with Europe for most of its history, and until the 20th century was constantly at war with Russia, so Belarusians have a completely different mentality and culture.

The video has sparked a storm of comments on the web. The website Charter97.org cites some of the comments:

- I saw the Russians who came to Belarus. Drunk, they got off the shuttle bus at the bus station, not a single sentence without a mat, and they got to know each other and thought about where to sleep. Others, who come in cars, park in the yard, where the entrance is only for residents of the house (a sign at the entrance), take two parking spaces or even stand in the middle of the road in someone else's yard and in someone else's country. They make it impossible for those who live in their homes to park. They make fun of the language, defiantly twist all the inscriptions in Belarusian, and demand to have them translated. Disgusting! There are very few adequate people who come and respect another country.

- Everyone is welcome, but we are a separate country, and everyone will have to reckon with it. We are not the youngest or the middle, we are other people with our own culture and history.

- Russians who come from St. Petersburg or Moscow, be simple. Are you a pipe on our bathhouse? You are nothing here, just guests.

- Russians are not our brothers and friends.

- I would like Belarus to join the EU.

- You are not our brothers. You came here - be human beings.

- Not a single Russian I know has behaved decently. This arrogance and boorishness is disgusting. Not everyone is like that, but I was unlucky to see the adequate ones.

- Russians should respect local culture and laws! If they can't respect them, let them stay at home!

- Belarus is Belarus to Belarus, if it comes to that. We don't need their "brothers"!

- One such Russian woman in a store simply demolished a girl-seller with her body and she fell to the floor. And this woman didn't apologize - she couldn't even take off her "crown". I've never seen such an arrogant person. It's a pity for the girl.

- And Russians think that they are welcome in Belarus and consider them brothers.

- I'm not against Russians, but still, one should not substitute history. We started to be fully friendly as countries only after the creation of the USSR (and then the hard Russification started). And all the rest of the time we were either under the oppression of the Russian Empire or at war. No offense said, we are Slavic brothers after all, but don't consider us as your part. You just have a lot of imperialists.

- Russians for some reason thought that we would become their brothers if we cut out half of the population and impose our language. Strange "people".

- We are Belarus, a separate country. Who sold whom there is of no importance at all. If you came to us, please respect our country and mentality. No? Then you will be treated worse than sick cattle (cows, sorry).
