US President Donald Trump made it clear during a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin on August 18 that issues related to the territories of Ukraine should be resolved directly between the Russian dictator and President Vladimir Zelensky.

Need to be realistic

According to journalists, the American leader told Putin bluntly that "talks about territorial demands" cannot bypass Kiev and reminded him of the need to be realistic.

Thereby, Trump made it clear that Moscow's attempts to impose its terms through Washington will no longer succeed.

Key topics of the summit

According to the portal, the topic of Ukraine's security became a key topic during Trump's consultations with Vladimir Zelensky and representatives of European countries at the White House.

The US and its allies proceed from the fact that the issue of possible deployment of European troops in Ukraine is extremely painful for the Kremlin, while for Kiev the most difficult topic remains potential territorial concessions pressed by Moscow.

At the same time, the paper's interlocutors note that during his conversation with Trump, Putin allowed the idea of providing Ukraine with international security guarantees.

But, as always, the Kremlin tried to build its own conditions into the process - the Russian dictator suggested including China in the list of guarantor countries.
