NATO Takes Seriously Drones Flying Into Lithuania From Belarus

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister spoke to the Alliance Secretary General.

The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Kiastutis Budrys discussed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte the incidents with drones that violated Lithuanian airspace.

About it writes LRT.

In a telephone conversation, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister noted that the increasing number of incidents of violations of NATO borders by Russian drones is a dangerous trend. In his opinion, urgent and decisive NATO action is needed to strengthen the anti-drone and anti-aircraft forces on the Alliance's eastern flank.

"The consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine go beyond NATO's borders. Russian drones that have deviated from their course to Ukraine and invaded NATO territory pose a threat to civilians and critical infrastructure," the Lithuanian minister said.

Budris said during the conversation that enemies are closely watching NATO's response to such incidents, so the response must be clear and unambiguous, demonstrating that NATO will defend every inch of its territory, both on the ground and in the air.

Later, Alliance spokeswoman Allison Garth, commenting on the conversation, said NATO "takes these incidents very seriously."

"We remain vigilant and ready to defend every inch of NATO territory," she added.

We will recall that on August 1, after several days of searching, a Russian drone that flew in from Belarus was found almost in the center of Lithuania. The Prosecutor General's Office later said that that drone contained an explosive charge.
