Karol Nawrocki believes that this is important for good neighborly relations.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has repeated his demand for reparations from Germany during a speech at commemorations marking the 86th anniversary of the start of World War II.
The Polish president's statement is quoted by RMF 24.
Before the main celebrations began, President Karol Nawrocki laid flowers at the Polish military cemetery at Westerplatte.
In his speech, Nawrocki said that for good neighborly relations between Poland and Germany, the issue of reparations must be resolved.
"In order to build a partnership based on the foundation of truth and good relations, we must resolve the issue of reparations from Germany, which I, as president of Poland, unequivocally demand for the common good," he said.
Nawrocki said Poland "as the most important state on NATO's eastern flank, needs justice, truth and clear relations with Germany."
"But it also needs reparations from the German state," he added.
"I believe that Poland's prime minister and government will support the president's voice in the international arena, and we will build our real secure future together with our Western neighbors," Nawrocki said.
