The border crossings will close on September 12.

Polish Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwinski on Wednesday signed a decree temporarily suspending border traffic with Belarus, which was announced the day before.

The Polish Border Guard Service said.

The decision to close border crossings with Belarus will take effect from midnight on September 12 "until canceled" and will apply in both directions - both for leaving and entering Poland, it said.

Polish border guards added that the border closure is Warsaw's response to the Russian-Belarusian exercises "Zapad-2025" and is designed to protect the security of Poland's border, which is also the EU's external border.

"We will open the crossings when we are sure that the situation poses no threat to us," Polish Interior and Administration Minister Marcin Kierwinski said.

The closure of the border with Belarus was announced the day before by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
