Polish Interior Ministry Makes A New Statement On The Border With Belarus

The border is closed "until further notice."
The Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration announced the closure of the Polish-Belarusian border until a special order. The ministry said that the decision was dictated by concern for the safety of Polish citizens.
The ministry added that ensuring the safety of the country's residents is the top priority. The closure of the border is related to the Russian-Belarusian maneuvers "West-2025", which does not mean the automatic opening of the border immediately after the completion of these exercises.
"We will resume traffic when the border is completely safe, and this will be confirmed by the information transmitted by the services. We understand that the suspension of border traffic is a challenge for carriers who have to use, for example, border crossings in Lithuania to perform transportation," the statement said.
The agency stressed that, taking into account economic issues, it will make efforts to make the period of border closure as less burdensome as possible for entrepreneurs. "Losses will be assessed when it becomes known how long the border will remain closed. The ministries will then be able to prepare an appropriate summary. On this basis, the government will make decisions on possible support for certain industries," reads the report.
It should be noted that Poland closed the border on the night of September 12, when Belarus began exercises "West-2025" jointly with Russia.
