The country's largest military exercise has begun.

The largest in 2025 military exercise "Iron Defender-25" began in Poland. This was written on September 1 by RMF24.

The event involves more than 30,000 military personnel from Poland and allied countries, involving more than 600 units of military equipment on land, sea and in the air.

The exercise takes place at training grounds in Orzysz, Usk and Nowa Dęba, as well as in "field conditions" outside specially designated military zones. Iron Defender is a complex maneuver combining several coordination phases and including the use of modern fire support and reconnaissance platforms. Lessons learned from the fighting in Ukraine are also taken into account during the exercise.

The Polish Armed Forces General Command emphasizes the importance of integrating land, air, sea and cyberspace operations, which increases NATO's deterrence and operational capabilities.

The Iron Defender maneuvers are being held in response to the Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2025 exercise, which Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky says could involve up to 150,000 military personnel. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamish stressed that the Polish exercises are a key response to these actions, while not targeting any particular state.

The General Staff said that the purpose of the exercises is to demonstrate the unity, professionalism and growth of combat capabilities of NATO allies.
