US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has decided to call hundreds of US generals for an emergency meeting to discuss defense strategy with them.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Bloomberg.

Trump and Vance's reaction to the meeting

U.S. President Donald Trump, commenting on the emergency meeting, said it was good that the generals were getting together with the Pentagon chief.

In turn, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said there was nothing unusual about such a meeting.

The reason for the meeting

Bloomberg notes that the meeting is to take place before the last day of the fiscal year and a possible "shutdown. Against this backdrop, state budget funding for travel for state employees, including military personnel, could come to a halt. That's why Hegseth wants to urgently gather all the generals.

An unnamed senior industry official noted in a comment to the publication that the meeting itself will be devoted to the U.S. National Defense Strategy.
