It Became Known Why The U.S. Secretary Of Defense Summoned The Top Military Leadership For An Emergency Meeting

The purpose of the meeting has been named.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will hold an unprecedented gathering of hundreds of generals and admirals from around the world next week in Quantico, Virginia. Many of the officers were concerned and intimidated by the urgent call, but in reality they will only have to listen to a speech about "warrior spirit" and the Pentagon's new course, writes CNN, citing sources.

The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the Pentagon's new course, which Hegseth calls the "Ministry of War," and emphasize the importance of "warrior spirit" for all military personnel. CNN sources describe the event as a kind of "motivational rally" rather than a traditional security meeting or weapons demonstration.

Hegseth intends to outline new standards for top U.S. commanders during the event: these include physical fitness, adherence to appearance rules, discipline and a willingness to obey orders without discussion.

Generals and admirals have been explicitly told that attendance is mandatory and that skipping the event is only allowed for a very good reason. Hegseth himself notes that this is an opportunity to "clean up the mess" and show who sets the tone in the military.

Hegseth's speech will be recorded and later released to a wide audience, with the White House planning to heavily promote the video. U.S. President Donald Trump will not attend the event, and appears to have little knowledge of its details.

Hegseth himself, a former Army officer, has repeatedly criticized top commanders for what he sees as the Army's implementation of woke politics - too focused on social and cultural issues. Since becoming defense secretary, he has already fired several high-ranking generals and admirals and ordered a reduction in the number of four-star officers by at least 20 percent.

This upcoming meeting is a kind of show-and-tell: Hegseth wants to show that the new rules and standards are binding on everyone and make it clear that disobeying them can cost officers their careers.
